Intro to the Project
So, I just created this page after starting development in early August. I waited until I had some things done before making pages like this. I wanted to have something to show before I created pages so they weren't empty.
After being inspired by music "videos" by the EDM artist Rezz, I decided that I would make a game with a feel and aesthetic inspired by the videos. I already knew it was going to be a puzzle game because I absolutely adore the genre. I also decided to make it 3D and in Unreal Engine because I think 3D works best for the idea and Unreal doesn't require the use of programming to make a game.
The first thing I did was buy asset packs from the marketplace that would work in what I was making. That didn't take terribly long, but most of the stuff I have claimed or bought is sitting uninstalled because I don't have a good connection. That's what's stopping the progress on the intro level which takes place outside. I am about to begin work on a demo level that will be published here to both gauge interest and gather some feedback on the puzzles.
Since I'm just some dude who wanted to make a game, I needed to do a ton of research just to get where I am now. I needed to figure out which popular game engine would be best, what I needed to learn to use the engines, and how to get assets. I have no game design experience outside of a basic game in GameMaker probably about a decade or so ago. Moving to 3D and a AAA engine is insane. I can do so much more, but it's sometimes overwhelming. I am a one-man team right now, it's challenging and I like a challenge.
Talk to you in the next devlog, stay tuned!
